Everyone’s skin is different and reacts to products differently. You should begin to see improvement of your blemishes and pimples in as little as 24 hours and resolution of your blemish usually in 4-7 days.

Depending on which product you are using, how long your product lasts will vary. The evologie blemish clear serum is meant to be used as a spot pimple treatment and depending on the frequency of use and the severity of your blemishes should usually last about three months. The stay clear cream is used as a total face blemish preventing and hydrating cream and should last about thirty days.

All of the evologie products contain natural botanical ingredients. These ingredients will normally darken slightly over time due to natural oxidation of product when exposed to air. This slight darkening has no effect on the effectiveness of either the blemish clear serum or stay clear cream.

evologie products are safe for women who are pregnant or nursing but it is recommended that you consult with your physician before using our products if you are pregnant, intend to become pregnant or are currently nursing.

Yes. evologie's YS3 COMPLEX is composed of ingredients that block the enzyme necessary for the formation of abnormal amounts of pigment that is associated with repeated breakouts of pimples and blemishes. In this way, daily use of evologie's stay clear cream helps to reduce the formation of the ugly dark spots frequently associated with acne especially in ethnic skin types.

On rare occasions your breakouts may worsen before they get better. This is due to the fact that your skin may be sensitive and putting a new product on your skin may cause some mild irritation worsening your blemishes. Once your skin de-sensitizes to a new product you will see improvement in the severity and frequency or your breakouts.

evologie products contain keratolytic agents and potent antibacterial agents that will un-plug pores promoting resolution of blackheads and whiteheads.

While reducing the frequency and severity of breakouts, occasional pimples may occur. In that event immediately apply evologie blemish clear serum to the blemish while applying the stay clear cream to the rest of your face as directed.

evologie products are effective for all forms of acne including cystic acne. Cystic acne is more common in males and is frequently confused with nodular acne. Nodular acne feels like a painful bump under the skin surface while cystic acne is a fluid filled cyst just beneath the surface of the skin.

Skin Care / Acne

Acne, pimples, blemishes, blackheads, and whiteheads are inflammations of the hair follicle-sweat gland unit of the skin. It is usually caused by bacteria found on the skin predominately staph and step species. The cause of acne is a bacterium named Proprionbacterium acnes. These bacteria normally live on the skin in sebum around the hair follicle and when a pore becomes plugged these bacteria are trapped and begin to multiply causing inflammation that results in pimples, blemishes, and acne lesions.

Rosacea and Acne are two completely different conditions and are treated very differently. They may, however, occur in the same individual. The exact cause of rosacea is unknown while acne is caused by a bacteria called Proprionbacterium acnes.

Oily skin has many causes and is due to an over-production of sebum by the skin’s oil glands. Hyper-active oil glands are frequently seen in teenage skin and may be related to an over production of hormones during those years while decreasing with age. Other causes of oily skin may be related to environmental factors, stress, genetic disposition, diet and hormonal imbalances during pregnancy and menopause.

When skin gets inflamed for whatever reason (pimples, acne, sunburn, cuts) hyperactivity of the pigment forming cells becomes exaggerated. Some residual discoloration may remain after a pimple resolved. This is called dyspigmentation. With repeated inflammatory events this dyspigmentation may worsen due to overstimulation of the melanocytes (pigment forming cells) leaving permanent dark spots that may be very difficult to treat. This condition is called PIH or Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation. The EVOLOGIE skin care line contains natural ingredients that effectively block the enzyme that hyperactive melanocytes need to form pigment. In this way the continued use of EVOLOGIE STAY CLEAR helps prevent and improve existing ugly dark spots.

Acne is a single disease with multiple causes and a variety of manifestations. When a pilo-sebaceous unit becomes inflamed it appears as a raised red painful bump on the skin called a papule or pimple. When a pore gets blocked by oils and dead skin cells it appears as a white dilated pore called a whitehead. When these oils and dead skin cells reach the surface of the pore they darken and are now called blackheads. When bacteria multiple within a clogged pore the result can be inflammation with pus filling the pore and is now called a pustule. Sometimes the chronic inflammation that results from acne can result in multiple hard bumps below the skin surface called nodules. This nodular type of acne can last for months and is frequently associated with scarring. By reducing the severity and frequency of breakouts this common side effect can be avoided.

Acne by its very nature can be considered a hormonal disease. Hormones are responsible for the maturation of the oil glands in our skin. This is why children do not experience acne. While it is not known exactly how hormones affect acne, we do know that the skin is a target for hormonal activity.

The same conditions that cause acne in teenagers can appear in adulthood. One of the common causes of adult acne is an imbalance in hormone production as a result of pregnancy and menopause. This results in an over-production of sebum that can clog pores trapping bacteria that leads to the formation of pimples and blemishes. Other causes of adult acne are exposure to environmental pollutants, diet, allergies and stress.

A person with dry skin does not escape acne and winter is the worse time for their outbreaks. Even though acne is more prevalent under the skin rather than on the surface for these skin types, a daily regimen of skin care needs to be followed. As the seasons change so does the skin condition. In the winter moisture is scarce due to the drop in humidity and temperature. Combined with indoor heating and environment, the skin becomes even more dry and irritated. The skin begins itching and flaking around the mouth, nose, shoulders and buttocks. In more severe cases there is cracking of the skin leaving it vulnerable to bacteria and increase of acne. A daily routine of adding moisture to the skin will help offset this problem. Hot showers and baths remove moisture from the skin and should be avoided. Taking care of dry skin in the summer requires a change in daily routine. The air is more humid and the skin absorbs the moisture better. Sweat and the heat make pores softer, pulling in more bacteria and liquid. evologie stay clear creamis specifically designed to moisturize your skin while reducing the frequency and severity of breakouts.

People should begin treating acne and common blemishes immediately. It is recommended that children be treated only after they have been evaluated by their physician.

Sebum clogs pores, which attract bacteria and become inflamed. For some adults, breakouts are a result of hypersensitivity or overproduction of androgens (male hormones). But an imbalance in both male and female hormones (estrogen) can also cause breakouts. For women, this can happen during pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause. Some medications, such as corticosteroids, and cosmetics can also contribute to the development of acne. Treating adult acne is tricky. Most acne medications are geared to teens' oily skin, a bad choice for drier adult skin.

Stress can cause acne by creating an inflammatory response in the body. This results in a breakdown of the cells lining the pores which then mix with sebum causing a plug that blocks the pore trapping bacteria. Once trapped, the bacteria begin to multiply causing further inflammation with formation of pus. This pus filled pore is now called a pustule. These pustules can become red and painful and may lead to scarring of the skin and PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Both scarring and PIH may be difficult conditions to treat so it is important to reduce the frequency and severity of breakouts.

Squeezing or popping pimples may increase the risk of complications like scarring and PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). If you are going to “pop” a pimple both your face and hands should be thoroughly washed so as not to further contaminate the skin. Whether you squeeze your pimple or not evologie blemish clear serumshould be applied immediately to the affected area.

Firstly, tanning salons should be avoided at all costs due to the increased risk for developing skin cancer. Over-exposure to the sun can result in skin inflammation that may trigger further breakouts and worsen already existing PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). If you are going to be out in the sun for long periods time use a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
